As Development Manager with the Lanark Community Development Trust I’ll be sharing a weekly ‘Development Manager Diary’ to keep you up to date with the Trust’s exciting projects, activities and developments in Lanark.
The week kicked off with some admin work and the background development of the new LCDT website – it’s shaping up to look great!
On Tuesday I visited our partners CCI (Clydesdale Community Initiatives) out at their Langloch Farm base to speak about potential opportunities to work together, particularly with the new Horticultural Centre opening at Castlebank Park soon. I was blown away with the facilities and activities that are available out at CCI, from woodworking to soap making! They are even hosting a mini music festival on Saturday 25th August – click here to find out more.
On Wednesday, myself and Sylvia met up with representatives from Development Trusts Association Scotland (DTAs) to speak about the progress in my role, LCDT’s current projects and to have a look at the current development of the Castlebank Horticultural Centre site. It’s shaping up to be a wonderful community asset! Contact me if you’d like to find out more about hiring or using the space on email@example.com / 07958 387 378
On Thursday, myself, Emma and Ernest from Lanark in Bloom sweltered away in the Castlebank Horticultural Centre poly tunnels getting our presentation boards ready for the Beautiful Scotland judging day on this coming Monday, 31st July. It was amazing sorting through all of the photographs and seeing the huge amount work Lanark in Bloom do all year round to keep our town looking beautiful! Fingers crossed for a good day on Monday.
I had a meeting at New Lanark On Thursday afternoon so I popped in to see the new exhibition, GAME PLAN: Board Games Rediscovered. This exhibition is touring from the V&A Museum of Childhood and is open at New Lanark until the 4th of November. If you consider yourself a ‘games master’ this is one for you! You can find out more and book tickets here.
On Friday I attended my first Lanark Community Development Trust Board meeting. This was held in The Tolbooth so it was also a good chance to see the new exhibition in there! LIFE LAND WATER will be open daily until the 9th of August. Click here for more information.
I’d love to hear if you have any ideas on you have to improve the town, projects you would like the Development Trust to consider or if you would like to get involved in any way. You can also get in touch with my if you have local events or community initiatives you’d like the Development Trust to consider sharing on our social media pages. Please feel free to email me with any suggestions or ideas at Melissa@lanark.co.uk
