Angela Crawley MP has this week submitted an Early Day Motion congratulating Lanark in Bloom on winning gold at the Keep Scotland Beautiful Awards.
Lanark in Bloom are based in the newly restored Horticultural Centre in Castlebank Park and supply and maintain 50 hanging baskets and 60 containers throughout the town all year-round.
The organisation maintain and care for the plants in a polytunnel based in the growing centre at Castlebank Park. In 2017, the group, in partnership with Lanark Community Development Trust, won the ‘Community Involvement Award’ for the Castlebank Park Horticultural Centre.
In partnership with Lanark Community Development Trust, the Castlebank Park Horticultural Centre has developed over recent years. The work carried out at the unit benefits not only Lanark but the wider area around the town and further afield.

“It was a pleasure to visit Lanark in Bloom and present them with a parliamentary motion I submitted recognising their achievement.
“In particular I would like to thank to Sylvia and Ernest for showing me around their gardens and their newly restored space.
“The work they do to improve the image of the town is outstanding and their recognition at this year’s awards ceremony is well deserved. I am looking forward to working with the group over the next year and also celebrating future success and awards with the volunteers.”
