We have had a busy weekend with the start of the winter festival.
The first event was the ‘Ladies Extravaganza’ at Cleghorn Millhouse. We had a great evening of prosecco, gin tasting, lovely nibbles and a superb fashion show by by Brooks of Lanark.
Saturday saw the High Street buzzing with the Christmas Market. The local Panto and Junior Panto clubs put on great performances on the stage at the foot of the High Street . The climax of the day was the arrival of Santa and the switch on of the Christmas lights, including all the wall mounted Christmas trees which the Development Trust had obtained for local shops and businesses.
Many children have already been into the Tollbooth and Brooks shop to pick up the Elf Trail Leaflet. If you haven’t got one already do come in and get one and then go hunting in the shop windows for all the elusive elves who are carrying letters which make up the title of a Christmas song. Return your completed leaflet to the Tolbooth and you will be entered into the draw to win an elf and £20 prize. Good Luck
Tickets are still available for the Whisky Tasting session on 30 November at the Harry Smith Centre and the Christmas Cookery Demonstration by Mary Barkley at Greyfriars Church Hall on 27 November. All tickets are available at the Tolbooth which will be open from 10am till 4pm each day.
Not to be missed is the Late Night Lanark and Illuminated Parade on Friday 25 November. A wee bird told me it may include illuminated Lord Cornets on horseback as well as Lanimer Lorries, a Santa Train, Bands and a Children’s Lantern Parade. You can also visit Santa’s reindeer who will be available for photographs outside the Tolbooth.
If you haven’t had your festival programme delivered to your home you can still pick one up from the Tolbooth or download it from the Lanark Life website. (www.lanarklife.co.uk)
All of the festival information is also available on our two giant iPads which are now ‘live’. Please go and have a look at them. There is one beside the Tolbooth and one outside the Memorial Hall.
