Sunday 12 June was not wonderful weather wise but was a superb day nevertheless. Castlebank was the hub garden for the cluster of gardens open under Scotland’s Gardens scheme. A large number of people came along to see both the restored areas of Castlebank and the three other wonderful open gardens nearby. The cream teas and plant stall at the horticulture centre were a great success. Many thanks to all our volunteers, Anne Sinclair for running the plant stall and all who contributed plants for the sale. The biggest thanks must go to the garden owners, John and Sheila Prior, George and Ina Valantine and Jean and Peter Sanders, for allowing the public to visit their glorious gardens.
Overall we raised £937 from admissions, teas and plant sales. 60% of this is kept by Scotlands Gardens for admin and their charities but Castlebank received £375 which will go towards the purchase of more roses for the Wallace Garden.
