Saturday was a great day with lots happening in the town. The Wallace Festival in Delves Park drew large crowds and for once the weather was terrific. The Medieval Re-enactors put on a good show and the Lanimer Committee’s balloon race got off to a fine start with last year’s queen, this year’s queen, the Lord Cornet and the Lord Cornet Elect being given the honour of releasing the balloons.
The exhibition in the Tollbooth of the school children’s Wallace ‘Wanted’ Posters drew the crowds and we were all impressed at how much work the children had put in to their posters.
If you missed the show yesterday you can still see it today (Sunday) as the battles will go on again this afternoon.
This was the first event of the ‘SpringFest’ which runs all the way through to Lanimer Week. If you haven’t got your brochure yet you can pick up a copy at the Library or download it from the Lanark Life website.
