Our long awaited statue of William Wallace, carved by Iain Chalmers of Chainsaw Creations, has arrived at Castlebank. We had a few problems getting him to the Wallace Rose Garden as the lorry that brought him from Inverness was too large to go through the arch of the park gates. William spent the night instead in the Council yard at Caldwellside before the Ground Services squad brought him down to the park on a trailer. The squad then used a forklift to gently lower him on to a specially prepared bogey which was manhandled into the gardens using the same ‘technology’ as the Egyptians used to build the pyramids!
Our grateful thanks to South Lanarkshire Council and the Ground Services squad for giving us so much help.
