Lanark Community Development Trust is working to improve the town for the community of Lanark and encourage more visitors to our historic town.
We are restoring Castlebank Park, Lanark and are creating a William Wallace Memorial Rose Garden with a 7ft sculpture of Wallace in the centre to commemorate his slaying of the English Governor in 1297 at Lanark castle, 200 yards away.
He made his escape through woodland to a cave on the river Clyde. This woodland is now part of Castlebank Park. We need to raise £2000 to cover the sculpture and the central plinth. 50 Braveheart roses and 50 Freedom roses have been donated by Border Biscuits and are ready to plant out.
