Castlebank Park has been given a touch of magic with the addition of several stunning wood carvings as the Lanark Community Development Trust create a Fairy Dell walk at one of the town’s local landmarks.
South Lanarkshire Council gave the Development Trust permission to build the path and they also supplied by Iain Chalmers from Chainsaw Creations on the Black Isle to create the impressive carvings.
Iain worked tirelessly at Castlebank last week to transform the area and the Development Trust are delighted with his work.
The carvings will feature on the slope between the Horticultural Centre and the old pond and will help add to the character of the area.
The Council’s Community Payback team will be building a footpath in the coming weeks and a formal Open Day for the Fairy Dell walk will take place on Saturday 23rd May when Allison Galbraith, a well-known local storyteller, will be telling fairy and woodland stories to groups of children.
